The Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Maestro Derek Gleeson, will mark its U.S. premiere concert with a rich and diverse pro-gram of works by Beethoven, Brahms, Mahler, Mozart, Dvorak, Gounod and Catalani. The orchestra has performed and recorded classical and modern repertoire, film scores for motion pictures and television, and also performed for royalty. Lehman Center for the Performing Arts’ audience will experience the orchestra’s exclusive New York City engagement on Sun., Feb. 15 at 4 pm. Lehman Center is located at 250 Bedford Park Boulevard West on the campus of Lehman College. The generous support of JPMorgan Chase for the International Performance Series helps to keep the tickets prices for this concert affordable at $25, $20, $15, with special tickets for children 12 and under priced at $10 for any location.
The program will include classic favorite orchestral pieces and a string of arias sung by Celine Byrne, one of Ireland’s premier sopranos. The pro-gram is as follows: Brahms’ Academic Festival Overture, Opus 80 opens the evening; two arias from Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro; the third movement from Mahler’s Rückert-Lieder; Gounod’s aria, “The Jewel Song” from Act III of Faust; Dvorak’s aria, “Song to the Moon” from Act I of Rusulka; Catalani’s aria, “Ebben n’andro Lontana” from Act I of La Wally. The evening closes with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 in A major, Opus 92

The Hall of Fame for Great Americans in the Bronx and the Gould Memorial Library will be the topic of Art and Sue Zuckerman’s presentation on Sun., Feb. 1, at 11 am at the Riverdale-Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture’s Meeting House, located at 4450 Fieldston Road, corner of Manhattan College Parkway.
Art Zuckerman was a tour guide for the Travel Channel, Walk of Central park, and is also published in Fodo’s Travel Guide for Walking Tours of New York City. He has written numerous articles and featured in several publications on walking tours of New York and other locations in the U.S. He appeared in featured articles in Gannett papers, Westchester Magazine and Westchester Wag, and writes weekly for Home Town Media on travel and leisure.

Lehman Center for the Performing Arts presents a Valentine’s Day evening to remember as two legendary, multi-Grammy Award-winning superstar groups, The Pointer Sisters and Kool & The Gang, perform a high-energy double bill on Sat., Feb. 14, at 8 pm. The Pointer Sisters, who recently celebrated their 30th anniversary, have had over two dozen chart-topping hits, including I’m So Excited.
