Zodiacs run into medals, ribbons

Wow, the Zodiacs Track Team racked up 17 medals and one ribbon at the USATF Long Island Track Meet on Sunday, January 18. While part of the team was winning ribbons and medals, the others were racking up points at the Colgate Woman’s Games to qualify for the semi-finals. Congratulations to Cynyah Lawrence, Taylor Anderson, Dominique Jackson, Kadreya Simeon, Taylor Velez, Desiree Gordon, Simone Grant and Francine Pinnock for winning the points to qualify for the semi-finals.

At the Long Island meet, Elijah Johnson took 2nd place in the Pee Wee 55 Meter Race, Matthew Samuels took 2nd in the Sub-Bantam 55 Meter Race. Richard Anderson took 1st and Jailen Nias took 2nd in the Bantam Boys 55 Meter and they took 2nd and 3rd in the 200 Meter. Spencer Jackson continues his winning streak with gold in the 800 and 400 Midget Boys Meter Race. Kevin Mathis ran his personal best in the Youth 400 and 800 Meter Race and took gold in both races. Football star Shane Cherry took second in the Youth Boys 200 Meter. Alyah Lightboure took 2nd place in the Bantam Girls 800 Meter Run and Devon Seignious took 2nd place in the Shot Put. Shot putter Francine Pinnock showed everyone that she can run too, after winning the gold in the shot, she took 3rd in the Intermediate Girls 200 Meter Race. To close out the day, the Richard Anderson, Habeeb Lewis, Jailen Nias, and Spencer Jackson won the gold in the Midget Boys 4 X 200 Meter Relay Race.
