Samuel Young Legion Post 620

Hello all.

First off: my Boosters are hosting an All You Can Eat Pasta Night on Friday, February 27. Festivities begin at 7 p.m. and wind up at 10 p.m. The evening consists of 4different types of pasta, meatballs, sausage, salad, bread, beer, wine and soda. There will be a 50/50 raffle and door prize. Cost is $15 per person with reservation or $18 at the door. Payment and reservations by Monday, February 23 will be appreciated.

Bronx County Upcoming Events for February: Oratorical Contest at Lehman College on the February 8 at 2 p.m.;  Korony Post Valentine’s Day Dinner Dance at the Bronxonia Yacht Club on the February 14 at 7 p.m. That’s it for February.

The Junior Enlisted Troops are now eligible for burial at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors. Spc. Joseph Hernandez was the first to receive this. Originally only Officers, Medal of Honor winners and Sergeants Major were accorded this honor.

Well the second box of goodies went off to our adopted platoon in Afghanistan last Saturday. This was the one with board games, magazines, candy and beef jerky. I also included an abundance of raisins. First of all they are nutritious and taste good, but, if there is an ex con, correction officer or some down South lads in the unit, they can brew raisin jack. I don’t think they even need a still.

If a Ms. Hom of the Girl Scout Troops in P.S. 71 is reading this, I misplaced your number and would like the girls to help out with Valentine’s Day cards to this platoon. You can reach me at the Post on Fridays between noon and 6 p.m. at (718) 822-8873 or my cell (914) 400-3756 any time. This might count toward community service or if home made, arts and crafts. Thanks a lot.
