A new McDonalds held its grand opening at 1820 Eastchester Road, on Wednesday, February 4 welcoming the community to check out the new store design and features.
“This is a fantastic community and I felt a screaming need for a McDonalds here, and this grand opening gives us an opportunity to meet the important members of the community and talk about how we can serve this area better,” said owner Bruce Colley, who owns several other locations throughout the Bronx, New Rochelle, and Mamaroneck.
The new McDonalds continues to feature healthy items including a variety of salads and yogurts. The new store design also incorporates a café, which according to Colley, is able to compete with any Starbucks in terms of quality and taste.
As a thank you to the neighborhood, McDonald’s also gave out two $ 500 donations to the 49th Precinct Explorers, present to raise the flag and lead the guests in the National Anthem, and Community Board 11.
“Its always a good day when we welcome a new business in our community, especially in these economic times. We are pleased to have the McDonalds in our community, it has created jobs and they seem to be very community oriented,” said John Fratta, district manager of Community Board 11. “The fact that they gave two scholarships shows their commitment to becoming apart of our neighborhood.”
The McDonalds, which is 3,915 square feet features 73 seats, and a 12-car parking lot and a 24-hour drive thru service, employing nearly 65.
Syria Vazquez, an employee at Albert Einstein, indicated how vital this location is for the people working within the nearby medical facilities, as well as children from the many schools throughout the region.
“I hope we make this community proud with what we did here, and that we fit in and do better than any McDonald’s in the past to service this community,” said Colley.
