Affordable units for CB 10

The newly constructed Westchester Square Apartments are accepting applications, and offering a 50% unit preference for residents of Community Board 10.

“It’s a beautiful building,” said Ken Kerns, district manager of CB10. “Its got a very nice lobby and the architecture is very attractive. It was a wonderful project.”

The building, located 2511 Westchester Avenue, was constructed through the Mixed Income Rental Program of the City of New York’s Department of Housing Preservation and Development and the Low Income Affordable Marketplace program of the New York City Housing Development Corporation, offers affordable housing during these troubling times.

Dependent upon household size, the income requirement for a one bedroom ranges from $ 28,934 to $ 36,840 with a rent of $ 782, for a two bedroom from $ 34,891 to $ 46,080 with a rent of $ 943, and for a three bedroom from $ 40,293 to $ 53,460 with a rent of $ 1089, including gas.

Other preferences are 5% for persons with mobility impairments; 2% for persons with visual or hearing impairments; and another 5% for City of New York Municipal Employees.

The 58-unit building contains first floor retail space.
