49th Precinct makes burglary arrest

This burglar chose the wrong house to mess with.

On Monday, January 25 at around 9:55 a.m., John White, 49, a resident of 702 Morris Park Avenue, was arrested for a botched burglary at a Morris Park home.

The resident of 1177 Hone Avenue, whose name was withheld, heard noises coming from his kitchen. When he went to investigate, he caught White red-handed. The resident, an off-duty police officer, used his training to approach and apprehend the alleged crook.

Police officers Owen Ortiz and Thomas Varian of the 49th Precinct were driving by. They noted the commotion and arrested White.

“You have people out there doing bad things,” 49th Precinct Captain John Greeley said. ”Once again, with the help of the people living in the community, we were able to stop a guy from potentially committing other crimes This was a very good arrest.”
