Bronx Chamber of Commerce donates turkeys

The Bronx Chamber of Commerce has donated turkeys to those in need before Thanksgiving.

Chamber president Lenny Caro and his staff delivered hundreds of turkeys to 11 locations throughout the borough on Wednesday, November 23 to help those who could use a tasty meal on Thanksgiving as part of the Chamber’s annual turkey drive.

Caro was greeted at the various locations by elected officials and organization leaders to help distribute the turkeys, making many Bronx residents happy as the holiday season began in the borough.

“It’s the least we can do every year. Everybody deserves a turkey on Thanksgiving,” Caro said. “This is one of the many things the Chamber enjoys doing every holiday and it helps many people who are in need.”

Turkeys were delivered to the New Era Veteran’s Residence, the Bronx Provider Consumer Alliance, JASA Throggs Neck Senior Center, Schuyler Hill Civic Association, Help USA, Highbridge Gardens Senior Center, Greater Zion Baptist Church, Church of God of Prophesy, Friendly Baptist Church Daycare Center, St. Augustine’s Church Food Pantry, and Part of the Solution.

All of the turkeys were delivered within five hours and Caro and his staff handed out every one of them. Sister Mary Alice Hannan of POTS, who takes part in the turkey drive every year, was pleased with their contributions.

“It’s always wonderful what the Chamber does for the borough,” she said. “Not everyone gets to have a big meal on Thanksgiving and these turkeys truly help out so many who do not have it.”
