70th anniversary of Pearl Harbor remembered

The wreath laying in Bicentennial Veterans Memorial Park to mark the 70th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor may also celebrate recent renovations to the park.

Bicentennial Veterans Memorial Park, Inc. is calling on all World War II veterans to come to the park on Wednesday, December 7 at 2 p.m. for the placing of the wreath in honor of the occasion, said past Korony Post commander Pat Devine.

“If we get a large enough crowd, we may have a ribbon cutting celebrating the renovations on the park,” Devine said. “We are trying to get as many World War II veterans as we can to come to the park.”

The park has seen a $1.3 million renovation that was recently complete, and includes the planting of a memorial garden, new fencing, and a new staircase leading into the park.

Anyone interested in attending can call Devine at (718) 823-1981.
