TNLL Parade steps off at noon on April 14th

A grand beginning to the 60th Throgs Neck Little League season will occur with a parade that steps off at noon at E. Tremont and Lafayette avenues on Saturday, April 14.

An opening day ceremony will occur on the field at 12:26 p.m. after the parade of little leaguers makes it way to the Throgs Neck Little League Field, located at 150 Throgs Neck Boulevard, said TNLL secretary Frank Eisele.

Expected to be in attendance are dignitaries including Father Michael Sullivan, the pastor of St. Frances de Chantal Church, who will be giving an invocation; Senator Charles Schumer; Congressman Joseph Crowley; Senator Jeff Klein; Assemblyman Michael Benedetto, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn; Councilman Jimmy Vacca; Community Board 10 district manager Kenneth Kearns; and former assemblyman and tee-ball sponsor Steve Kaufman, Eisele said.

The parade is especially enjoyable for younger children in the tee-ball league, who may be wearing a baseball uniform for the first time.

This year’s ceremony is honor of Bob Bonamassa, who passed away in November 2011. The Bonamassa family has donated an American Flag.
