Gas stations pounded drivers wallets post-Sandy

It wasn’t bad enough that frustrated drivers running on almost empty were backed up for blocks as area gas stations either ran dry waiting for deliveries or were knocked out of action with no backup generators.

State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman went after three Bronx gas stations reported ripping off gas-needy drivers.

One station charged a whopping $10 a gallon, while one driver complained to the AG she was told she’d have to pay $50 for five gallons of gas.

Facing civil actions and fines were the Mobil station at 3424 East Tremont Avenue at the Bruckner Expressway, the Lukoil/Getty station on Pelham Parkway off White Plains Road and another Mobil station on East Gun Hill Road in Olinville

Gov. Cuomo just announced 258 downstate gas stations are now installing back-up power, under a new state law.
