The City Island Lobster House on Bridge Street lost its iconic lobster sign that stood atop the restaurant roof during Superstorm Sandy.
Owner Joseph (Jo Jo) Mandarino said he’s in the process of replacing it.
What he remembers most about Sandy, besides the outpouring of support from neighbors and customers afterwards, was the triple hit of the hurricane, the snow-storm that followed, and the gas shortage (“really devastating” for business).
Nevertheless, he said, “we rolled up our sleeves, we persevered, and we got through it.”
