New boro charter school hearing

A public hearing will be held on the application of a new charter High School for Law and Social Justice on Tuesday, Feb. 19 for those interested in learning about a new educational option.

It would be open for students in grades nine through 12 in school districts 7, 8, 9, or 12.

The hearing will take place in Mount Eden at Bronx Lebanon Hospital at 1650 Grand Concourse at 6:30 p.m.

The proposed school is a partnership between New York Law School, the College of Mount Saint Vincent, and Legal Outreach, which is a not-for-profit that provides educational opportunities to high school students around the city in traditionally under-served areas.

Students would be exposed to “rigorous curriculum that uses law and social justice issues to help students develop the crucial skills of critical thinking and analysis, literacy, and effective communication.”
