More than 2,300 participants in the sixth annual 5K Damon Runyon charitable run/walk made their way on a course through Yankee Stadium on Sunday, August 3. This year’s event raised more than $500,000 for the Damon Runyon Foundation’s ground-breaking efforts to strike out cancer. As part of the course, runners and walkers made their way on Yankee Stadium’s warning track. The participants were welcomed by Damon Runyon president and CEO Lorraine Egan, Congressman José Serrano, NBC 4 reporter Brynn Gingras, and Yankees enthusiast and ‘Bleacher Creature’ leader ‘Bald Vinny.’
