The Bronx Times Reporter is leaving its current location and moving back to its original neighborhood.
Throggs Neck will be the new location of the Bronx Times Reporter as of Friday, September 12, after calling Port Morris in the south Bronx home for seven years.
The move brings this local newspaper back to the neighborhood where it began and spent its first 25 years of existence.
The Bronx Times Reporter was co-founded in 1981 by Assemblyman Michael Benedetto and John Collazzi. After spending over two and a half decades at various locations in Throggs Neck, the newspaper moved to the New York Post Printing Plant in September of 2007.
Once again, the Bronx Times Reporter will be able to call Throggs Neck home.
Co-founder and editor John Collazzi said that this relocation has brought this newspaper’s journey full circle.
“Our location in Port Morris for the past seven years added an additional challenge for our staff“, he said. “The editorial staff did a great job overcoming our siting in the most remote corner of the borough to the extent most of our readers never knew we had moved from the neighborhood.”
”It feels great to go home to our original neighborhood, and we will be right back in the heart of our community,” said publisher Laura Guerrero, who has worked at the Bronx Times-Reporter since 1987.
“The move is bittersweet, because even though we’re looking forward to moving and having more independence, we will miss the New York Post employees, who have always been more than accepting and welcoming to us ever since we moved into their facility. We will always appreciate them for their support and hospitality.”
Co-owner Les Goodstein, who recently purchased Community News Group, a local newspaper network that includes the Bronx Times Reporter, said that the move gets this newspaper closer to the neighborhoods that its based off.
“It’s always a good idea to be closer to your readers and advertisers, and that’s where we’ll be,” said Les Goodstein. “That’s the main reason for this move – to get back to the heart of the community that we serve.”
The new address of the Bronx Times Reporter is 3604 East Tremont Avenue in Throggs Neck. For those who want to stop by and say ‘hello’, the doors will be wide open to all.
“Our doors will be open to everybody in the community, giving Bronxites the opportunity to inform us and keep us updated on developing stories and upcoming events,” said Laura Guerrero. “This move will help us connect with our community better than ever before.”
