Jacobi Medical Center celebrates 40th anniversary of first trained New York City Emergency Medical Service Paramedic Class from 1974 with reunion

Jacobi Medical Center held a 40th anniversary celebration and reunion of “Jacobi 1,” the New York City Paramedic Class of 1974 on Monday, September 22. The significance of this class is that they were the first group of city ambulance employees to receive paramedic training. Before the class graduated from the training program at Jacobi, Emergency Medical Service personnel generally were not medically trained. Some of the ambulance crew members who graduated in 1974 went on to become doctors.
