Local ladies compete

Kaisiso Nwakile, Khandice Powell and Gessenia Rodriguez were selected to participate in the 2014 Miss Jr. Pre-Teen New York pageant competition on Sunday, November 16.

Rotary News

At their weekly meeting on Tuesday, October 14, the Rotary Club of the Bronx welcomed Brandon Armstrong a former anchorman at The Onion.com and winner of the Peabody Award. Armstrong spoke on the media and how he believes that “95% of journalists working today change the facts of a story in order to enhance their own reputations.” The Onion.com is a satire news site.

At the start of the Tuesday, October 21 meeting, Lisa Dunkley from VISIONS was introduced. VISIONS is a group that helps the blind and visually impaired. The Bronx Rotary Club donated money so that Dunkley could travel to Albany to speak at the Convention for Disabilities. Jeffrey Ampratwum from the Boy Scouts of America spoke about how the organization is growing in the Bronx.
