Future Medical Leader Excellence

Parents Christopher Salzo and Teresa Salzo altered the Bronx Times that their son, Joseph Salzo, a junior at Fordham Prep, was invited to Washington D.C. to take part in gathering of top high school students in the country called The Congress of Future Medical Leaders. The event, held in November, was hosted by the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists.

John Luisi Memorialized

Long-time Bronx resident John Luisi, age 71, passed away on Saturday, November 25. At the time of his passing, his wife Grace was sitting by his side at Temecula Hospital in CA.

He was the oldest of his siblings, Robert, Theresa and Suzanne.

John retired from the NYC Transit Authority in 1997 and was greatly admired by his co-workers during his 34 years of service.

Over 150 family members, friends and neighbors attended his wake at Sisto Funeral Home.

A memorial luncheon was held in Menifee, CA on Sunday, November 31.

John is survived by his wife Grace, daughters Yvonne and Denise and son John and grandchildren Nicole, Brianna, Johnny and Lucas.

Greenstein passes

Susan Greenstein, 69, died at home in Manchester, NJ on December 7. Born and raised in the Bronx, she was a resident of the borough most of her life, until she moved to Manchester four years ago. She worked for nearly 25 years at the JHS 135 until retiring in 2002. She was very active in the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) and was a past union representative.

Mrs. Greenstein is survived by a son, Stewart Greenstein and a daughter, Michele Greenstein and her husband Paul Coviello and grandchildren Peter and Julia.
