Brother carries on legacy

The passing of Pelham Bay leader Joseph Oddo came as a shock to many in the community, but already community leaders and a member of his own family are looking to pick up where he left off in terms of making the Bronx a better place.

Joe’s brother Anthony Oddo reports that he is working with St. Theresa Church to carry out one of the last projects his brother Joe was working on: the creation of a food pantry at St. Theresa’s Church. Joe saw that there was hunger in the north and east Bronx and said before he passed away, that he felt it could no longer be ignored. Joe was to have had another meeting on the food pantry the week on this issue.

His family had asked for donations for the food pantry in lieu of flowers before the wake for Joe. The address for donations to the food pantry, which is still in the precess of formation, was confirmed by his brother as St. Theresa Church/Food Bank, 2855 St. Theresa Ave. Bronx, N.Y. 10461.

Birth Announcement

A nearby hospital reports that Jonathan Anthony Lucas Gianfrancesco was born to parents Anthony and Rita Gianfrancesco in February.
