With summer only a month away, a fitness trainer is holding outdoor bootcamp classes to promote physical activity and exercise in her community.

Certified trainer Mary Solis, founder and owner of Dream Body Fit, has launched a dynamic outdoor bootcamp program in Pelham Bay Park to improve the physical conditioning of participating Bronxites who are motivated to get fit for the summer months.

The bootcamp classes, which have been located at the track and field section of the park (near Bruckner Boulevard Expressway service and Middletown roads) began on Monday, April 27 and will run throughout the summer.

Classes take place on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and on Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. The final day of the program has not yet been determined.

Monday’s bootcamp classes are designed to improve health and increase endurance and speed.

Wednesday’s classes are for women only – focusing on helping ladies achieve the ultimate summer body.

Bootcamp classes on Saturdays focus on overweight individuals, and includes exercises such as plyometrics, calisthenics and body weight resistance.

Solis, an ISSA-certified fitness trainer and a Precision Nutrition coach, has been involved in physical training for over five years.

As a Bronx native, she has helped several of her clients, most between the ages of 35-65, achieve their fitness and weight loss goals while improving their daily nutrition cycles

.“I’ve been working out with Mary for about two months now and I must share that she is super knowledgeable and great at what she does,” said Lizzette Algarin, a client of Solis.

“She has all the characteristics you would want in a trainer. We’ve worked out in the park as well as my home and she’s challenged me in ways where I’d never imagine I’d be able to achieve!”

“I now have more endurance, strength as well as agility and I highly recommend trying her out – you won’t be sorry,” Algarin added.

The first three weeks of the program have been a success, according to Solis and her students. It is clear than this trainer is passionate about helping any individual hoping to improve their health, lose weight or build lean muscle through exercise and healthy eating – doing whatever it takes to see her students achieve positive results.

“Because I was born and raised in the Bronx, my passion for living a healthy lifestyle through nutrition and fitness has made me very concerned about the obesity rate in my borough,” said Solis. “I am committed to helping to end this trend even if it’s one person at a time.”

“My hope is to get as many people excited about exercise through my bootcamp program as I can, and if not, I hope they at least like it enough to commit to exercising on a regular basis.

Classes cost $15 each, while 10 classes, $100 and 20 classes, $200. For more information or to book classes, visit www.dreambodyfitness.net.
