WCS’ 96 Elephants Campaign Smashes Guinness World Record

The Wild Conservation Society’s Bronx Zoo was officially declared the home of the world’s largest display of origami elephants by Guinness World Records on Thursday, November 17. In total, 204,481 origami elephants were sent to the Bronx Zoo from all 50 states, 40 countries and 45 Association of Zoos and Aquariums zoos with more than 78,564 mounted and included in the record setting display. The Bronx Zoo’s display which is part of WCS’s 96 Elephants campaign shattered the previous record of 33,764 origami elephants displayed by the Zoological Society of London/Whipsnade Zoo in 2014. A portion of the origami will be on public display at the Zoo Center from Thursday, December 1 to Saturday, December 31.
