A local developer is continuing to bring affordable senior housing to the borough.

On May 11, Jeff Fox of Foxy Management, filed plans to construct affordable senior housing in Morrisania at 1323 Boston Rd.

There will be a two-wing building with an eight-story structure facing Boston Road and a seven-story structure facing Clinton Avenue, which will be connected by a 60-foot glass-enclosed greenhouse intended as a “green” respite for the seniors to gather and enjoy nature. It will also have a 15-car parking lot.

This project is a continuation of Foxy’s ongoing work to bring affordable and supported housing for seniors in the Bronx. In 2019, he launched the Hebrew Home, at 600 E. 179th St. and 1880 Boston Rd. in West Farms.

Foxy is co-developing the project with JLD Advisory, a Queens-based firm. It is also working with HANAC, Inc., also a Queens-based nonprofit, who will be providing social supportive services for the seniors.

According to Fox, the hope is to close on financing in December, demolish the existing buildings and begin construction. He is expecting roughly 27 months from construction closing to completion.

Brian Newman of Newman Design is the architect on the project.
