On Friday, February 26, Councilwoman Vanessa Gibson joined Assemblywoman Latoya Joyner and Senator Jose M. Serrano to host a Black History Month Celebration at the Bronx Museum of the Arts, located at 1040 Grand Concourse.

The event, which was held in partnership with Wellcare Health Plan, celebrated the legacy and spirit of the African American community and honored local community leaders dedicated to servicing the public. Honorees for the event included Gregory Delts, Joann Daughtry, Arlene Hall, Colbert Nembhard, Donald Somerville, Diana Washington and Andre Trenier.

Guest speakers for the event included Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie and District Attorney Darcel Clark.
