A bomb scare shut down part of Westchester Square on Thursday, May 3 around 3 p.m. at the 2700 block of East Tremont Avenue. Police from the 45th Precinct evacuated the stores and diverted traffic after discovering an object which was initially believed to be an ‘explosive device’ on the sidewalk. The NYPD gave the all-clear two hours later after they determined the package was not a bomb. Traffic was resumed a few minutes after the determination was made.
