A Bronx man is facing attempted murder charges after allegedly stabbing a man numerous times on board a subway train in an unprovoked attack Friday morning.
Detectives apprehended Lateef Green, 50, of Bronx Boulevard just before 7 p.m. on April 18, roughly 12 hours after he allegedly went on the attack on board a Manhattan-bound 5 train near the East 219th Street station in Williamsbridge.
Law enforcement sources said the suspect approached the victim, a 21-year-old man, on board the train at about 7 a.m. on Friday and went on the attack. Green allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times in the torso.
Following the bloody carnage, Green allegedly departed the train at the East 225th Street station and was seen fleeing on foot.
Officers from the 47th Precinct and NYPD Transit District 12 responded to the incident. EMS rushed the victim to Jacobi Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
Green now faces charges of second-degree attempted murder as well as multiple counts of first- and second-degree assault.
State prison records show that Green had been paroled in January 2021 after serving 3 1/2 years for a conviction on charges of first-degree sexual abuse and attempted assault as a hate crime.
