Three violent incidents in the Bronx in a single day last week resulted in three deaths, all of them deemed homicides by the NYPD.

The first, a shooting, was reported in the Bronx’s 48th Precinct by the NYPD around 4:30 a.m. last Saturday. Police responded to a 911 call and upon their arrival at 4371 Third Ave. n Belmont and found 24-year-old Ishberit Carrera with gunshot wounds to the chest. He was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

At the same time, in Mott Haven, officers from the 40th Precinct received a call of another gunshot victim in the vicinity of East 139th Street and Morris Avenue. Cops found Adama Camara, 28, “lying on the ground, unconscious and unresponsive” with a bullet wound to the head. Emergency personnel declared Camara dead on the scene.

Then later Saturday evening, close to 6 p.m., the NYPD responded to a report of a man stabbed in front of 1711 Colgate Ave. northeast of Longwood. The man — who the police had not identified by name as of Wednesday — had two stab wounds in his torso and later pronounced dead at NYC Health & Hospitals Jacobi.

As of Wednesday, zero arrests had been made for the three killings, according to the NYPD, and all three cases were still under investigation.

The homicides on Saturday were three of at least 38 total in the Bronx this year according to dispatches from the NYPD — three of them with child victims. This year there have been at least 22 reported homicidal shootings and nine homicidal stabbings through May 8.

According to data from the NYPD, however, murders in the Bronx are down 22% from last year at this time. In 2022, there were 50 reported murders through May 10 — this year has seen 39.
