Bronx Veteran Chamber of Commerce hosts women self defense and martial arts demo

The Bronx Veteran Chamber of Commerce hosted a Women Self Defense & Martial Arts Demo with Master Instructor CJ Rivera on June 8. Gonzalo Duran, the chief executive officer of Devil Dog USA Incorporated was also present.

Duran said that the expansion of their self-defense courses on behalf of Devil Dog USA Incorporated and their partners is in response to the rising attacks on women in New York City. This event was held at Caldwell Temple in the Bronx.

Women at this self defense workshop were shown different ways of defending themselves. They were also able to practice with Rivera and his daughter, Katie Rivera.

CJ Rivera showed all present how to defend oneself against an attack, like the attack against a 45-year-old woman who had a belt wrapped around her neck in the Bronx. He also spoke on being aware of one’s surroundings and the dangers of being caught up in one’s cell phone.
