Saturday, Sept. 23

The Bronx Summit: 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Andrew Freedman Home, 1125 Grand Concourse

The Bronx Summit is back on Saturday after a successful event last year. The Bronx Summit will celebrate the creative excellence that exists in the Bronx, highlighting entrepreneurs and creatives in tech, fashion, health care, film and media, all while honoring the 50th birthday of hip-hop. This event will feature more than 25 speakers, musical performances, DJs, networking opportunities with industry professionals, appetizers and even a one-hour open bar. Beer and Build Night: 3 p.m. – 9 p.m. at The Bronx Brewery, 856 E. 136th St.

Come to the Bronx Brewery for a night of fun, games and music on Saturday night. There will be a variety of Nintendo Switch games set up, as well as Gunpla and model kits that will be available for purchase from Gundam Planet. The first 40 people to buy a ticket will get a free beer and food will be available for purchase. Tickets cost $15 on Eventbrite.

“1.5 Million” Documentary Free Screening: 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. at the Bronx Library Center, 310 E. Kingsbridge Road

The Bronx Library Center is presenting “1.5 Milion,” a documentary film by Bronx native filmmaker Gregory Hernandez of Green Canvas Productions on Saturday. Doors open at 3:30 p.m., the screening begins at 4 p.m. (with subtitles in Spanish) and a post-screening Q & A will take place at 5:30 p.m. This documentary explores the political and economic forces that have led to a literacy crisis in the Bronx, specifically District 7 in the South Bronx. The title of the film is derived from the estimated population total of the Bronx as of 2019, which is 1.5 million. Learn more about the film and reserve a free spot on Eventbrite.

2023 Original Short Play Festival: 5 p.m. at 940 Garrison Ave.
