More than a year after the acquisition was initiated, Centers Health Care has officially taken over and renamed the Beth Abraham facility.
On Thursday, March 16, local health care provider Centers announced that they are moving into the 90-year old Beth Abraham Health Services facility, located on 612 Allerton Avenue, after the transaction was originally announced in February 2016.
Centers Health Care has renamed the facility the ‘Beth Abraham Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing’.
It has been confirmed from Centers Health Care that renovations will take place throughout the building over the next year or so. New signage will also be installed in the next few weeks.
Beth Abraham Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing will continue to provide long-term care and short-term rehabilitation, along with specialized care, for patients with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. The 520-bed, three-floor facility will also offer many therapeutical and recreational activities for its residents.
“Our company started right here in the Bronx and our commitment to this community has never wavered,” said Kenny Rozenberg, CEO of Centers Health Care. “This facility enables us to expand our world class care and rehab service to hundreds more of our neighbors.”
Rozenberg also added the fact that this is the sixth medical facility that Centers Health Care has purchased, along with Bronx Center on Underhill Avenue, Triboro Center on Teller Avenue, Hope Center on University Avenue, University Nursing Home on Grand Avenue and Williamsbridge Manor on Tomlinson Avenue, Centers Health Care’s first skilled nursing facility.
In total, Centers Health Care, one of the largest and most complete post-acute health care continuums in the northeast, owns more than 30 skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers in New York, New Jersey and Rhode Island.
“We’ve been preparing for this for months – and now that it’s finally happened, we can launch the exciting plans we have for Beth Abraham,” said Moshe Blackstein, the facility’s administrator. “We are going to provide our residents with the finest care in the Bronx as well as the kind of lifestyle they deserve, included with a caring staff, a vibrant community and a comfortable, homey atmosphere.”
A spokesperson from Centers Health Care would not provide any details from last February’s transaction between CenterLight and Centers Health Care, but did observe that Beth Abraham’s current staff members are “cautious but optimistic that the facility will flourish once again.”
