Drunk Driving Accident Kills Passenger

A Norwalk, CT man is facing charges for a fatal accident over the weekend.

According to police, Jorge Viteri was allegedly under the influence of alcohol while traveling northbound on the Bruckner Expressway on Sunday, August 27 at 6:50 p.m. in his 2011 Nissan SUV with three of his friends.

While attempting to change lanes, Viteri lost control of his vehicle striking a concrete barrier before colliding with a backhoe parked at a construction site near the 7C exit for Country Club Road.

One of the three passengers, Abe Prior, 30, also of Norwalk, sitting in the back seat, suffered life-threatening injuries.

Viteri and his passengers were all taken to Jacobi Medical Center for treatment.

Prior was pronounced deceased at the hospital and Viteri was taken into police custody.

Viteri faces charges of vehicular manslaughter, two counts of assault, driving while intoxicated and refusing to take a breath test.
