Fire in Highbridge building kills one, injures three others: NYPD

Authorities are investigating a fire that claimed the life of a man in a Highbridge apartment building Monday.

According to the NYPD, at 10:18 p.m. on Feb. 20, police and fire personnel responded to a 911 call of a fire at 1133 Ogden Ave., a 24-story apartment building. The fire had broken out inside an apartment on the 24th floor.

After firefighters extinguished the flames, a 45-year-old man was found unconscious inside the apartment. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was rushed to NYC Health & Hospitals/ Lincoln, where he was pronounced dead.

Inside the apartment, officials also found a 46-year-old woman, a 15-year-old boy and an 11-month-old boy with non-life-threatening injuries. They were all taken to NYC Health & Hospitals/ Harlem in stable condition.

The FDNY Fire Marshal’s office will determine the cause of the fire. The investigation remains ongoing.
