In Concrete Plant Park food was free for the taking at an old construction barge reinvented as a floating garden complete with vegetables, apple trees and fragrant herbs giving Bronxites a chance to pick fresh, organic food.
Part floating garden, artwork and community organizing project, the barge called SWALE is currently docked at the Bronx River and open Friday to Sunday this August from 1 to 7 p.m.
The barge will move to Hudson River Park from Friday, September 15 to Wednesday, November 15.
