The New York City Health, Energy, and Equity Task Force hosted a roundtable on Thursday, April 10, at Fordham University’s Flom Auditorium to address climate justice, public health challenges in the Bronx, and related equity issues.

Numerous community leaders, task force members, and stakeholders attended the roundtable, which featured an artistic visual demonstration outlining key topics such as climate strategies and a 90-day action plan. Attendees were divided into three breakout rooms to discuss concerns, propose solutions, and help shape actionable next steps.

One troubling statistic highlighted during the roundtable was the Bronx’s ranking as last among all 62 New York counties for asthma-related hospitalizations. Addressing this health disparity—along with broader efforts to improve the borough’s climate and reduce energy and air-quality burdens—was framed as a catalyst for action by Antuan Cannon, Vice President of Talent Development and Innovation at Willdan Energy Solutions.

Clotilde Monguya, a Reproductive Health and Healthcare Management Consultant with C. Monguya Consulting, spoke at the roundtable about the importance of working closely with the community—empowering residents, amplifying their voices, and driving policy changes that reflect their needs.
