New York Botanical Garden hosts children’s holiday tree decorating

The New York Botanical Garden’s annual Children’s Holiday Tree Garden events took place over three days on December 14, 16 and 20. Students from borough schools got to make their own ornament and place them on a holiday trees representing their schools. Elected officials joined the children in decorating the trees. The participating schools included Van Nest Academy, P.S. 54, P.S. 30, P.S. 66, P.S. 175, P.S. 47, P.S. 205, P.S. 279, P.S. 89, P.S. 21, and St. Raymonds. According to NYBG, elected officials who attended the the event were Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie, Senator Gustavo Rivera, Councilman James Vacca, Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, Assemblyman Marcos Crespo, Congressman Joseph Crowley, Councilwoman Annabel Palma, Councilman Ritchie Torres, Councilman Fernando Cabrera, Assemblyman Mark Gjonaj and Senator Jeff Klein.
