Staff at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi wore the color orange on National Gun Violence Awareness Day on  Friday, June 7, to honor the victims and survivors of gun violence while also building community with those working to end the epidemic.

Jacobi hosts the Level 1 Trauma Center that treats many Bronxites each year who receive an intentionally inflicted traumatic injury like gunfire and also hosts its successful Cure Violence intervention program and Stand Up to Violence (SUV).

The SUV program, the first hospital-based Cure Violence program in the U.S., is entering its 10th year this month. It has been internationally recognized for its work to reduce gun violence in the 49th, 47th, and 43rd police precincts.
