The New York Institution for Special Education graduated 33 students from the Van Cleve program and the Schermerhorn Middle and High School programs last Wednesday, June 24 at its Pelham Parkway North school. The graduation’s keynote address was given by NYISE alumna and jazz pianist and composer Valerie Capers. Speeches were presented by valedictorian Christine Bharosi, Bernadette Kappen, Ph.D., NYISE executive director and Paul Yellin, M.D., Board of Trustees member. The Class of 2015’s graduation featured performances by the NYISE chorus and an award presentation recognizing students who excelled in various areas during their academic career.
