Police saved a man from harming himself on the Cross Bronx Expressway last week.

According to a NYPD spokesman, 43rd Precinct police responded to a call of an emotionally disturbed man standing on the Cross Bronx Expressway at Westchester Avenue on Thursday, April 6.

Upon arrival, police officers found the 32-year-old man standing in traffic.

He proceeded to vault over the median onto the opposite side of the highway screaming that he wanted to die.

Police officers requested additional units to stop traffic.

Prior to the units’ arrival, the man slipped on the wet pavement providing them the opportunity to take him into custody without further incident.

He was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jacobi Hospital for psychiatric evaluation.

The man, whose name was not released, was not arrested or charged in this incident.
