Police in the Bronx are searching for the suspect who fatally shot a 20-year-old man inside a Williamsbridge deli Thursday afternoon.
The victim, Sorai King, was shot in the neck and chest inside Deli Grocery Corp., located at 3724 Bronxwood Ave., around 1:33 p.m. on April 17, according to the NYPD.
Officers from the 47th Precinct responded to a 911 call and found King critically wounded inside the store, which was just one block from his home. EMS rushed him to Jacobi Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
King’s family told The Daily News that he was in the deli at the time to pick up a snack for his mother.
The motive behind the shooting remains unknown, and no arrests have been made as of Friday, police said.
As of April 14, the 47th Precinct — which covers Woodlawn, Wakefield, Williamsbridge, Baychester, Edenwald, Olinville and Fish Bay — had reported three homicides and nine shooting incidents so far this year, according to NYPD data.
King’s killing came one day after another fatal shooting took place in the Bronx, in which a 35-year-old man was gunned down in Belmont. Police are still searching for a suspect in that case.
Anyone with information regarding the shooting of King is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA) or submit tips online at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, or on X (formerly Twitter) @NYPDTips. All calls and messages are kept confidential.
