The NYPD confirmed that Rios and the suspect knew each other, however they stated that Abdul-Muhaymin was not a current or former co-worker. Rios and Abdul-Muhaymin were not romantically involved. Police added that Abdul-Muhaymin is wanted for fatally stabbing his uncle Owen Dillard, 73, inside his 352 Beekman Avenue apartment on Monday, June 11. Dillard, who only had a few months left to live, had recently won a $10,000 lottery jackpot just months after winning $50,000 playing the New York Lottery’s ‘Win 4’ game. Both Rios and Dillard lived only a few blocks away. A motive behind Rios’ murder remains undetermined. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 755-TIPS.
