Summer Film Screening

Friday, June 28, from 9 to 11 p.m.

Melrose Commons Park

Admission: Free

Bring the whole family and a blanket for a free screening of The Little Mermaid (Live Action) this Friday. In collaboration with the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, NYC Parks will host family-friendly movie screenings throughout the summer. The movie will begin at dusk and is free for all. Everyone is invited to watch this classic remake under the stars.

Bronx River Sounds

Enjoy the last weekend of Bronx River Sounds Performing Arts Festival! All are welcome to groove to the beats of Latin and African American rhythms and sounds. Godwin Louis will take the stage Friday night and Jon Thomas will closeout the month-long festival on Saturday night. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for cocktail hour in the Bronx River Art Center storefront gallery and backyard terraced garden.

NYBG: Family Weekend

Saturday, June 29, and Sunday, June 30, from 1 to 4 p.m.

New York Botanical Garden

Admission: free for ages 12 and under in costume

Join the New York Botanical Garden for a family-friendly weekend to kick-off summer and celebrate the end of the school year. The Queen of Hearts, her Playing Cards, and her Court of Garden Explainers will guide visitors through crafts and activities, from potting up begonias to making floral crowns. The Queen will host a meet-and-greet and lawn games, music, and tea-to-go mini meals will be available for all. This event is free for all kids aged 12 and under who arrive in Wonderland-inspired attire. Don’t forget your costume!

Community Paddling

Sunday, June 30, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Starlight Park

Admission: Free

Join NYC Department of Parks and Recreation for a free community paddle at Starlight Park. This is a great activity for families and beginners. Canoes will be available to partners and families while kayaks will be available to solo paddlers. This event is first come first served and no sign up is required. Participants under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Bronx Summer Jam

Bronx Park East

Admission: Free 

Celebrate summer with the third annual boogie-down Bronx Summer Jam! Arrive at Bronx Parks East on Sunday for day filled with some of The Bronx’s best artists and musicians. Featured artists on the Kings Stage  include Saay Park, Chris Pain, Black Lotus Band, Ray Pearson & FLUFGOD, Left in the Attic, Richard Pigkaso, GhostTour (Full Band), Descendent, and Honey Daze. Performances on the Sirens Stage include F1rst Class, Buddy Lee, and DJ HasCan. This event is free for all to attend.
