The borough has no shortage of events for people who want to be involved in the fight against breast cancer, need screenings, or who are survivors wanting to raise awareness.

The Malking Strides Walk at Orchard Beach

You will find a full article on the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer three-mile charity for American Cancer Society programs for women with breast cancer in another part of this special edition of the Bronx Times Reporter.

East Bronx Assemblyman Michael Benedetto is calling for volunteers to join his team in the annual walk, which takes place on Sunday, October 19 in the morning.

This will be the ninth year that Assemblyman Benedetto has participated in this event, and the eighth time he will be supporting a team, according to his office.

“Everyone joining together and giving a little will make a large impact and in the end the proceeds will be used towards much needed research, prevention, early detection and support programs,” said Benedetto. “It is also the 100th birthday of the American Cancer Society.”

Anyone interested in joining his team can do so by calling his district office at (718) 892-2235 or register in person at his office at 3602 East Tremont Avenue, Suite 201.
The assemblyman is asking that his team members make a minimum donation of $20. If you do, you will get your own polo shirt to commemorate the event.
